Harding Icefield Trail at Exit Glacier

Harding Icefield Trail at Exit Glacier – Kenai Fjords National Park, AK

We arrived to the visitor’s center of Exit Glacier right as it was closing in the early evening. There were still tours heading to the glacier and plenty of people milling around, this continued until we left later that evening. While it was a crowded trail, we never felt over crowded. It was nice to have the company. We hiked to the top of the cliffs, about 2.5 miles and an elevation gain of about 2,500ft. Even with the clouds the view was unreal. We saw a few mountain goats and some baby moose being watched over by their protective momma.

Make sure to wear layers as the temperature changes dramatically with the quick elevation gain…and drink a lot of water. A great hike with a great dinner at the Salmon Bake down the road after we finished.
