Temples of Bangkok – Bangkok, Thailand

On the first day of our Thailand adventure we were sleepy, but excited. I love the first day of a vacation. It feels a lot like Christmas morning as a kid. After over 24hrs of travel and a few hours of sleep, we were ready to unwrap Bangkok. The first stop was Wat Trimitr. It has a small footprint in the giant metropolis, but it has a certain regal beauty to it.

There are hundreds of temples in Bangkok, but our favorite was definitely Wat Phra Kaew. It was overwhelmingly beautiful and was a giant oasis in the middle of the city. I could have easily spent all day exploring this complex.

Wat Pho was another beautiful temple to add to the ‘must see’ list. It’s the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. It is one of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok features the famous Reclining Buddha, which is the largest in Thailand measuring more than 150 feet in length. It’s really hard to photograph the giant Buddha, so you’ll need to go visit to see it in all of it’s glory.

I let a bird be free for good luck, but he didn’t really want to be free… so…
